LOS GATOS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 4, 1997--G2 Networks
Inc., innovative developers of gigabit-speed networking technology,
Thursday announced it has added two key personnel to its management
team. Rich Taborek joins G2 as Consulting Architect for its
engineering/product development team. Taborek currently plays a
leading role in the development of emerging IEEE 802.3z Gigabit
Ethernet standards and is a member of the Gigabit Ethernet Alliance
(GEA). Along with Taborek, G2 has hired Larry Marques as VP of
Operations. Marques was previously chief operating officer for
Brocade Communications Systems Inc., a leading developer of Fibre
Channel switches.
"As a start-up focused on developing leading-edge gigabit
networking technologies, it is essential we hire recognized experts
in product development and engineering," said Scott Ruple, VP of
marketing for G2 Networks. "Going forward, these new hires give G2
the intellectual brain power to develop these leading-edge
technologies and become a leader in this emerging area of the
networking market."
Taborek is on the National Committee for Information Technology
Standards (NCITS) T11 Fibre Channel standards body and is the author
of several Fibre Channel standards, including the FC-SB mapping and
SBCON standards. As a key player in the development of Gigabit
Ethernet standards, Taborek currently serves as Physical Coding
Layer (PCS) Sub Task Force Chair and editor for Clauses 36, 37, and
related Annexes. These clauses form the core of the standard for
1000 megabits-per-second operation over the same physical media
specified for Fibre Channel.
Marques has several years of experience as an operations
executive for networking companies. Marques will now oversee
manufacturing and operations for G2's products which will enter the
market later this year. While at Brocade, Marques was responsible
for launching Brocade's Fibre Channel switch product, the SilkWorm.
Prior to working for Brocade, Marques held senior management
positions for companies like: CommVision, as chief operating
officer; Network Peripherals, as VP Manufacturing Operations; and
Unisys/Convergent, as general manager, Manufacturing Operations.
Marques received his BSIE from the University of California,
Berkeley and a degree in Industrial Management from Davar University.
