There was a Catholic father on one of the morning shows who seemed to be a man of faith, yet he would not have lined up with either of the Mr's Bush. So I think declaring it a secular religious divide is too simplistic. There are people of faith on both sides of this. It may be a split between certain kinds of evangelical faith, and other types of faith, but you have, imo, characterized it incorrectly by the simplistic divide of secular/religious.
