This implies that security can never be turned over to Iraqis as long as Americans want to fly to Baghdad. Is that what you meant to say?

Eventually, it will be safe. But there is a war going on in Iraq, in case you haven't noticed.

So what's YOUR timeline for handing security responsibility for that road (which is part of the sovereign nation of Iraq) back to the Iraqis? Don't give me the vague party line of "as long as it takes".....

Why does there have to be a timeline? What's wrong with as long as it takes? But if you must have an answer, I'd say that if we can't get the Iraqis up and running with a reliable Iraqi troop presence to take most frontline action, then something is very wrong. I'd like to see us down to 10,000 troops by the end of 2006, but not if that means we abandon the Iraqis to lose their country to the insurgents.
