Here's where I think ACLS is going:

One single Wafer Ion Implanter that cover BOTH low and medium energy applications.

If you are budgeting a 2-3 Billion dollar fab and can buy one implanter vs two - there is a substantial savings.

Then you learn that the same platform also can offer high energy - that gives you similarities from just one vendor.

Less money and all from one vendor source - that spells asubstantial economy of scale - its a no brainer from there on.
