Actually, it doesn't require anything of that sort.

My point is that there is no point to saying that someone is un-Christian because he or she approves of any sort of violence, even in self-defense. We can discuss gray areas all we want (e.g. was Iraq "self-defense"?), but Mary's point was stated in very broad, general terms, and I'm just providing a response.
