Can't really comment to much on specifics Nadine..

But essentially what is occurring here is any number of different entities forming "gangs" and going out commit acts of intimidation, revenge, crime, or just plain terror.

There are over a hundred different insurgent/terrorist groups being tracked right now in some manner or another.. Some just change their names so they create the impression they are more plentiful than they are.

But most importantly, we cannot assign monolithic characteristics to any one of them. They may support Zarqawi one day, and in the next they may be stringing up his people, as recently occurred in Ramadi (with Zarqawi vowing revenge)..

The key is to watch the Sunni chiefs. There's a sense, after the election, they are are starting to see reason and want to be part of the constitutional and political process.

Especially as they see the Iraqi police and army growing stronger day by day, and the insurgency losing steam.

It was a big day when Syria turned over Sabawi. A really big that left many of my associates thunderstruck..
