I like my argument better -- best case for you, I think, is that Terri has the right to commit suicide, but is unable to do so, and thus, Michael is merely acting as her proxy and acceding to her wishes.

Thus, we reassure the disability lawyer by telling her that we won't kill her unless she asks us to.

Not that I would, of course. But if she had terrible pain from terminal cancer, I'd hand her a big old bottle of morphine and a glass of water and let her conscience be her guide.
