One of the things enflaming the case is that there just isn't enough data public about Terri's neurological function for even doctors to be sure what's going on. Krauthammer (a psychiatrist by training) said he tried to figure it out and gave up. All we know is that she is not literally brain dead - she's breathing without a respirator - but has extreme brain damage, pvs according to the doctors.
