It's a specality position in volleyball. They hafta to stay on the back line and can never be a server nor can they make an attacking hit while the ball is above the net,, meaning they can't spike the ball. They can sub in and out at will. They keep the ball in play longer. It a position suited for a shorter person, someone 5'8 or shorter.
