If Tibet and Taiwan were not part of China there would be something to discuss -- but they are part of China, as is Hong Kong, so I watch with some astonishment while a handful of Americans debate the "issue" of whether or not Taiwan is a part of China -- silly, but it goes on to this day. That makes Taiwan an internal issue for China -- in the same way that the Terri Schaivo's choices are an issue of state legal jurisdiction in family law as distinct from federal jurisdiction. But there is no issue about whether or not Florida is part of the US, any more than there is an issue about whether or not Taiwan is part of China. I am sure, given time, China will work through their domestic issues.
