Elegy for Uncle Dickey It was embarrassing the way we buried you. Those old drunks from the V. F. W. couldn’t keep anything straight between the shaking and salutes. We should have done better by you than the horror of Taps and rifle blasts. Your life was a cigar stuck in a smile but there’s no ceremony like that.
