"Most or nearly all Of Latin America seems such a tragedy to me."

What a pompous statement from a gringo from a country that has backed dozens of violent dictators in order to keep the people poor and enslaved so Americans can exploit them and get rich.

"If Latin America could ever accomplish truly stable, capitalistic represetative deomocracies, there would be no holding them back."

Why should they? Maybe they don't wish to become Americanized, did you ever think of that? Maybe they don't see your tyrannical capitalism where the big corporations and big pharma rule to the detriment of the peoples health and well being.

What you really object to is that Latin corruption is so obvious that one knows what they are dealing with whereas American corruption, while far worse, is often obscured by constant propaganda on government controlled media like CNN and CNBC etc or and lets not forget that pimp Rupert Murdoch.
