Mqurice, Anita [TM] sounds marvellous. A bit like Spielberg's "Bathroom Buddy" invented by the guy in the Mogwai movie. Do you really think it is practical?

"Sure, think of it, the components are all synergistic and they share common components; one battery, one display, being invented now by Motorola as per Tom's url, one keyboard, RAM, other memory, one clock, one aerial [maybe two, as I don't know about aerials], one big ASIC, one housing".

"The alarm goes off in your tent, you check CNN for news, you follow your GPS directions to the location in the desert where the ufo is said to have landed, you can take a photo, interview the aliens, write a note about it, email it to your newspaper, then check your stocks, selling more Ericsson shares now that you realize how great Qualcomm's Anita [TM] is. Phone your wife to see how she got on with the new house plans, calculate interest charges and suggest she hold the gymnasium and indoor pool until Qualcomm goes up a bit more. Then turn on the radio, listen to some rap [which has rhythm if nothing else], push the V button to eject some Vegemite onto a Q-Dog biscuit because you are feeling a mite peckish after all the exertions, then lean back and enjoy the sun. Provided you are sunsafe of course."

"Admittedly, you need to point the photovoltaic panels on the top in the direction of the sun to maintain battery charge. Which is a bit bothersome".

Well, it sure sounds exactly what everyone needs. How else can you take photos and be first to print? Heck, you could even do office work while you are on holiday. Avoid that pile up of paper which always seems to accumulate. That should be popular.

How much does it cost?

"Should be about $500 once it is in mass production. Nothing expensive in it really, over and above good cellphones. With Globalstar in operation, in 1999, and W-cdmaOne in 2000, it will be super-popular. Too restricted at present due to limited cellular coverage and slow data transfer. It should really come into its own about 2002."

Gosh, its amazing. Can't wait!

"Yep! The 21st century should be off to a good start. With the Dow at around 16 000, Anita selling by the million and nothing going wrong, going wrong, going wrong, you'll be happy at last".

Hang on, I was happy when I was 12 and didn't have anything except a bicycle. You sure this thing will guarantee happiness?

"ummmmm..... well, yeah...I suppose..."

One other thing, I'd need a disability allowance because I'm pretty weak on the melanin side and you know the skin cancer rates these days!!! It just isn't fair. Insurance companies wanting to know whether you are white before they give you insurance against skin cancer. They aren't even allowed to ask if you are, well, you know, if you want insurance against AIDS. Even women are discriminating these days in their choice of mates!! They should not be allowed to discriminate. They should have to take the next person in line, of whichever gender, as their spouse. It just isn't fair.
