I been with Comcast (and prior names) since inception some 25 years ago in Chicagoland. Comcast's biggest sub base is Chicagoland. Everybody I know has Comcast. Everyone thinks Comcast charges too much for standard cable ($50) and the price seems to rise by pennies all the time. Many of us pay Comcast another $50 for broadband. No one I know will pay Comcast more money than they must, regardless of features. If we want additional features, such as TiVo, we will go to TiVo, if just not to pay Comcast more money. Maybe this is why their digital svc represents 1/3 of the sub base. And maybe this is why they hooked-up with TiVo.

Recently, I had a bunch of friends over (all Comcast subs), showed-off my Humax DVD w/TiVo. I asked them would they get TiVo as a stand alone or through Comcast. They replied, "Depends on the cost."

P.S. You don't need digital cable to use TiVo as many journalists state.
