Well I saw both those movies! I really liked them. Vera Drake is quite a downer, though. I thought Natalie Portman's performance in Closer was beyond splendid. Now you've gotta help me out, if you can. Mr. Grainne and I watched Dogville last night. Very strange movie, very art filmy, but I really loved it. I am struggling with the meaning beyond (truthful) cynicism about small-town life and the pervasive, suffocating quality of evil everywhere. Symbolically, what does Tom (the guy who fell in love with Nicole Kidman's character) represent?
