I completely see where the "Ramsey torpedoed the deal and got canned for it and now they have a Comcast deal line" of reasoning comes from, I just think it is not fully supported by the facts.

The Comcast deal was still negotiated on Ramsey's watch (he's still CEO), and from what I've seen, it looks like a good deal for Tivo, which can continue pushing standalones and now could conceivably get millions of "easy subs" if Comcast pushes for them.

He may not have been fired, but i would speculate that there were factions that disagreed with the strategic direction of the company.

I agree. Still, it's not clear to me that the "partner with cableco/satellite players" faction is winning - or that they ought to! It may be that the deal that supposedly fell through last summer would have given Comcast the keys to the hen house.
