The government does dictate the working language of your country. It dictates the language(s) it will work in. Sometimes multiple ones. Canada uses English and French. In the US it's English and sometimes Spanish and sometimes several Oriental languages. It does not dictate the language you use at home or with your friends. MY only response is if everybody was jumping off a bridge would you to? Does Ireland, for the sake of wounded national pride, wish to be be an isolated rock or part of the world economy?
