The gradual withdrawal of coalition troops, and their replacement by Iraqis, is the end game that most likely results in the second Iraq war being a resounding success! Coalition troops staying in Iraq in their current role is the signal that the second Iraq war may have been a complete disaster. We should progress toward option 1 (leave, as Syria is doing in Lebanon), not option 2 (stay, as Israel is doing in the Palestinian geography).
