NYT today a picture of a member of the nationalist party getting a grand welcome by the chinese. Correct me if i am wrong but the nationalists are the descendents of the KMT who fought a brutal civil war against the communists and ran to taiwan where they took over the govt from non-chinese natives. I think we both see the same irony here and in GST posts on this issue. RE: TURKEY ?? What are the two most popular books in Turkey today. Ans #2 Mein Kampf #1 Forget the title but it is a book that describes a war between turkey and the US and it ends with the Turks nuking Washington DC. With friends like this.......... Maybe you, you euros have it right after all about keeping turkey out of of europe. More irony and what makes it more so is that israel and somewhat fundamentalist turkey are allies. IN reading the NYTimes today two more ticklers. One NK and Iran soccer game turned rioutous in NK when iran won thus handing NK third straight loss. North Koreans apparently went nuclear. Also there is supposed to be a gay rights march in Jerusalem. Front page NYT and i kid you not is a pic of the two head rabbis of israel, the mufti of Jerusalem, the lead Roman catholic and the lead orthodox priest all signing on to the notion of banning this march at the behest of a US evangelical.
