60% puts me in the typical case.

No, I meant your particular yield results being typical as compared to a control group's yield. Sorry for the lack of clarity. In the sense you say, you certainly are in the majority and typical. You are contractually bound to not use the crop you raise as seed stock, right? That is the golden handcuff and if you found that blight took out your entire crop, there is probably a "no indemnification" clause as well. You assume most of the risk for committing to an over bred and virally infected seed stock in return for a short-term gain. The seed company (most likely a unit of Monsanto) has good lawyers. Don't expect any legal recourse if you come to regret the decision.

I don't have any expectations for you to personally champion the anti-GMO cause because what you do is entirely legal and profitable for you now. These kinds of policy decisions are the rightful place of a science-based government, but our current administration doesn't like scientists and has little respect for the environment. It may be too late for some crops, but a "go slow" approach to any technology is generally conservative.

Organic farmers typically command higher crop prices at modestly lower yields, BTW. It is just a different and more sustainable way to raise crops. Soil conservationists, ecologists and many independent observers have made that case.
