as a matter of fact I have been waiting for a hybrid vehicle for a year. I don't see any downside to owning a hybrid at all. Even if gas was cheap, this saves from having to fill up, why not ? My car which is a mid-90s BMW will probably need replacing if for no other reason it doesn't pass the CA smog check (another boondoggle, but tons of 94-96 beemers are failing the smog check around here). The problem is like most people I am looking for more than a honda civic. I want a bmw hybrid or an suv or some kind of more suitable car. If I drove a honda civic I would be seen as "cheap" by the people I drive around for work, because they wouldn't realize that I bought it because it was the only hybrid available. If I were younger I would buy the honda hybrid.
