Need some help here. Tomorrow is the record date for a special cash dividend of $12.50 per share for ATPL with ex-dividend on April 11th.

It's been a while since I've been in a stock long enough to get a dividend like this. I'm assuming the price will drop by $12.50 per share. Is this correct?

Also, has anyone ever experienced being in a stock that has this sort of dividend? How does the price react after the dividend is paid?

I don't think owning it just for the dividend is worth ot unless the price can appreciate after the dividend is paid out. Am I correct on this?

If tomorrow is the record date, one can still buy it tomorrow and collect the dividend?

Whew! Just thinking about these fundies have me working up a sweat.

Thanks for any help you can provide.
