Why, GST, you made the assertion that French intelligence didn't believe that Iraq had WMDs.

The French did not say that Saddam had no WMD. What they said was that they had no evidence that he did have WMD. And the Russians said the same thing. Neither of them could say with certainty that Saddam either possessed or did not posses WMD.

Because of their uncertainty, and their desire that Saddam did not get or hold WMD, they both supported weapons inspections.

Our intelligence said the same thing. No certain data that Saddam had WMD. And no certain data that said he didn't. All they had were estimates, based on guesses.
