I am seriously thinking that when I retire, it will be to a Catholic country, and by that I don't mean nominally Catholic like France or Spain. I need to learn Spanish.

Even as we speak, "right to die" advocates are lobbying to loosen the "onerous" restrictions against euthanasia in the Netherlands, to include people who never consented.

There seem to be several people advocating that position on this thread. If it's a "private decision" by the family members, there's no need to ascertain whether it was the patient's wishes. The family decides, and that's that. The only difference between that and the Netherlands is that in the Netherlands, strangers can decide for you if you don't have family, maybe even if you do.
