IDT a rapidly growing International Telecommunications company located in Newark and Piscataway is seeking a Senior VOIP Engineer to perform large-scale, detailed VoIP engineering, including Network Designs, Integration testing of new platforms and features as well as generic code releases for both North America and International VOIP environments.
Overview:
The Senior VOIP Engineer is a part of the Global Engineering Team responsible for planning, allocating and validating resources, ensuring functionality, redundancy, scalability and manageability of IDT’s Global carrier grade/VOIP Network.
The Senior VOIP Engineer will be responsible for the following:
Ø Managing specific engineering projects for VoIP initiatives, which include planning technology roadmaps, configuring and optimizing all IDT VoIP network systems and services.
Ø Responsible for interfacing with Product Development, Software Development, Architecture/planning groups and vendors to coordinate strategies for network designs and implementation.
Ø To develop Technical Requirements and Specifications for complex VOIP network elements to support existing and future platform/product/service functionality.
Ø Responsible for LAB testing of new emerging technologies.
Ø Provide Tier IV support as needed to augment the Sustaining Engineering team.
Ø Responsible for troubleshooting class 4 and class 5 media gateways/switches.
Ø Provide mentoring, training and knowledge sharing with other IDT engineers.
Position Requirements:
Ø Must have extensive hands-on experience on media gateways and soft-switching platforms. (Implementation of terminations and originating circuits and inter-working IP requirements for Sonus networks).
Ø Familiar with OSA and extensive signaling background with packet protocols such as H.323, SIP, SIP-T, IP MEGACO, MGCP and ATM as well as circuit protocols such as SS7 and ISDN and the ability to troubleshoot these protocols.
Ø Working experience with network topologies such as: TDM connectivity via E1, STM-0, STM-1, T1, T3, OC3, ISDN, Frame Relay, DS3, ATM, OC-3, and xDSL interfaces.
Ø Working Experience with different protocols such as: TCP/IP, ICMP, UDP, SNMP, SMTP, BGP, and OSPF.
Ø Experience with Operating Systems including UNIX, Windows 95/98/ME/2000/NT/XP, Linux, and Solaris.
Ø Understanding of LAN and WAN Internetworking Devices: Functions of Internetworking, Linking Devices (Repeaters, Bridges, Routers, Gateways).
Ø Working Knowledge of Configuring, Routing IP Addresses, and Subnetting, DNS routing, Radius, SIMS, LDAP NIS, etc.
Ø Minimum of 5 years experience in designing, engineering, testing, installation, documentation and support of IP networking solutions.
Ø Technical training and certifications in IP Networking (Cisco), Signaling Protocols and Soft switching (Sonus) a big plus.
