We can never know if the case was about Terri's wishes. They were not documented. It was my belief that without documentation of wishes, the presumption was that people want to live. The courts have ruled in this case that her husband had the right to state authoritatively what her wishes would have been. The US Congress legislated that the courts had to review their rulings. If I understand correctly, judges ruled that the Congress was overstepping their Constitutional rights.

Again, the Pope appears to have made his wishes known to his advisors. I know nothing about Italian law, and cannot comment about how it was interpreted. Remember we are talking about different sets of laws in different countries. I don't recall the Pope saying anything specifically about Terri. If he took different stands on Terri and on his own life then what were his justifications?

Are you seeing a Catholic Priest and assuming that his position is the position of the Pope? Is the Catholic Church perfect? IMO, no! People are seldom perfect. Institutions with people representing them are seldom perfect either.

Regardless of our position on judicial activism, right to life, choice, or whatever, I hope we agree to mourn for the loss of a life. Terri probably would not want the publicity nor to catalyze hatred.
