"Does the constitution guarantee that I can also have an automatic weapon like an assault rifle? How about hand grenades? Tanks? Shoulder fired missiles?"

It doesn't prohibit such things. But our legislatures have put restrictions on the 2nd Amendment and the courts have backed them. Many of the restrictions are reasonable imo. Some are not (the number of bullets in a pistol, for example).

"Often by accident..."

Accidental gun deaths are quite low related to all accidental deaths. If the other things that are higher (much, much, much higher in many cases) were eliminated you would not be able to drive, climb a ladder, walk down the sidewalk or many other rather routine things. Considering there are close to 300,000,000 guns it really is pretty good. If the gun haters would assist in the message of training and common sense the accidental rate would CONTINUE to go down. But they dishonestly attack the best organization in the world at promoting gun safety as evil and one that promotes death.

"or suicide"

Going to seem callous to you. But this is not the fault of "guns". A hundred or so per year jump off the GG bridge and we aren't shutting that down. And that is a relatively small geographic area. Probably (although I do not know) fewer gun suicides in SF than jumpers.

"Imagine the mess you leave behind when you blow your head off with a firearm"

Don't blow your head off then. This is one of the stupider lines of thought I have seen, but not a surprising one. Running your car head on inot someone who is innocent is messy too. But that happens. Lots of messy ways to kill yourself.

"If you're going to blow your head off..."

I have not intention of doing this. Sounds like you have some dark thoughts, and would be better off NOT to have a gun. You see you have a RIGHT to not own them too. Don't try to take my right to self protection away because you are afraid you will shoot yourself in the head some day. I certainly won't.

"Gun ownership does come with a lot of responsibility"

Hey. Some common sense. Good job orcy.

"Problem is...most people are irresponsible"

Common mindset on the far left. You guys really are condescending and arrogant in your views. Judging from your head blowing off scenarios I can at least see how you come to your conclusions. Seems like in general you believe people are idiots, and you hate life. Stupid and depressed is a bad combo for gun ownership.

"When you intersect a large number of households with guns and a large number of households with irresponsible people...the result is obvious."

Looks like you have confirmed my hypothesis. Too bad so many are so arrogant and self doubting. Nobody telling you to buy a gun (clearly with your thoughts you should not). You should actually be on suicide watch somewhere if you are not already.
