The article claims that MS knew CPR, but in his panic did not try it during the time his wife lay (not breathing) on the floor of their apartment. Now I thought that 9-1-1 operators ask things like "is she breathing" or "can you feel a pulse" or "tilt her head back and see if she starts breathing" - they may even be trained to explain mouth to mouth. Apparently this did not happen, as he quickly hung up with the operator, and did nothing till the paramedics arrived - well not exactly nothing...he also called his brother in-law and told him that his sister wasn't doing well.

I personally would prefer someone a little quicker on his feet than that, for a son in-law.

re:"Another thing about CPR: Performing it requires surprising effort and upper-body strength and is quickly physically exhausting. We always commandeered the biggest, burliest person we could find to perform the actual CPR."

I believe that MS would fit such a description.
