I don't want to do away with the illegals, myself. I think we're just going through one of those phases that we go through from time to time. Just think it's ironic that there's no real way to keep them out, but making it harder to go back and forth makes them more likely to stay here. Then they have kids here and the kids are automatically citizens and so it goes. We just can't seem to grapple with immigration in an intellectually honest way, we keep doing dumb things like making it illegal for Chinese and Japanese to own land, which was common as recently as the 1940's, or keeping out Eastern Europeans or Africans, and other moronic expressions of nativistic yahooism. The most recent immigrants seem to be the worst about wanting to slam the door shut after themselves.
