>>> You bet the Democrats were complicit and it really gets to me or anyone I would think who wants a two party system.

The fundamental problem with the Democrat party today is they have no guiding philosophy. This really began years ago, but really took hold during the Clinton years -- where the only real philosophy was that of looking to win the next election. Its genesis was "It's the Economy, Stupid" (when in fact, it WASN'T the economy at all).

James David Dale & Lord Rees-Mogg, in their treatise "The Great Reckoning", predicted a loss for the Dems in '92 and that it would be the end of the Democrat party. Well, the loss didn't happen until '00. But the death of the Democrat party is right on schedule.

You can't just have the party in name with no philosophy. You have to have core beliefs and commitment to those beliefs. The Democrats as a gropu simply don't have it -- and the few who do are so far out there (Howard Dean) that America won't buy into it. As a result, they may never win another presidential election, at least not in the party's current form.

I think Delay is just as bad for the Republicans as these extremists in the Democrat party are for it. I think Delay needs to go. At the same time, I think some extremism is fine as long as it isn't based on mean-spiritedness or political hatred (Rick Santorum would be an example).
