I stand guilty as charged because I don't believe either the husband or the court had the right to dispose of Mrs Chiavo in the manner they did and especially in the circumstance that her parents were prepared to care for her. So much for the American legal system.

In terms of your argument, she was neither a foetus nor a criminal who was found guilty of a heinous crime. In fact, she was an innocent person who had suffered brain damage.

Further, I do not believe the matter was political but ethical. It was a display of how the American society is prepared to treat one of its less fortunate members and, as such, stands as an example for all to see.
