You where the one who made the comparison. I wouldn't have brought up the "Wild West" (which wasn't anywhere near as wild in terms of human action as the movies would indicate).

Presumably the aspect of the wild west that you where talking about was the violence and murders. If so there is no reason to be "particularly glad NYC hasn't turned in to the Wild West.
