That was the cap in 1981.


That was the peak price in the peak year at the height of the oil embargo when people were waiting in line for an hour or two to get gas.

To compare that price to today's price and suggest that today's price isn't expensive is deceptive.

I don't know why people want to stick their heads in the sand on this issue. The oil companies are under investing in new exploration and not investing in new refining capacity, and demand is accelerating.

We are in dire need of strong conservation policy, and as things stand right now, the tax credit for hybrids will expire and the tax break for huge SUV's will continue.

The up side down world of the Bush administration...
