I have long suspected that participation in war is unhealthy. <sarcasm>

Seriously, however, I would expect scientific research to reveal some statistical confirmation of the ill effects of risky conduct, especially considering the lengths a military must go to to engage in direct combat in novel and uncertain circumstances.

It is almost a given that we would find some cause and effect links that explain negative health consequences.

So, when I see reporting that is needlessly politically spun, I just have to go, tsk tsk. It is the kind of counter productive effort that frustrates people who are trying to draw attention to serious issues.

Women are more likely to have miscarriages when returning from engagement in deadly combat. geee do we rea;;u need to collect data on that? We are dumb.
