A close family friend a few years ago was basically in the same state as Terri, in his case from advanced Parkinson's rather than an injury. In his case his wife decided not even to insert the feeding tube (he had been sustained by IV solutions, but that is apparently only a temporary measure), but had him brought home and gave him no nutrition or hydration, and he died peacefully, as far as I could tell, about ten days later. He was never left alone; when his wife had to sleep friends came in to be with him. If a feeding tube had been inserted at the care center he could have lasted probably for years. Was it murder not to insert the tube? Was it murder to take out the IV and let him die at home? If not, why does that differ from Terri's case?
