If she had expressed her wishes in writing, it would not have been an issue. The only source for the claim she wished to die is her husband and brother-in-law, who had a severe conflict of interest. Furthermore, even assuming they weren't making up the stories (which they only came forth with long after Terri was injured), the claims were based on offhand comments.

She had made no such claims to her parents and friends. Indeed, she even made a comment to a friend that she disapproved of removing Karen Ann Quinlan from life support.

Judge Greer disregarded this testimony because of either bias or ignorance re. the Quinlan case.
