It is unlikely someone sitting in cubical will have a more valid opinion about a subject than a practitioner in that field.

You're expecting this to be true about whether there are ethical issues about raising dogs for racing? If one were to take you literally, then we would think that only slave owners could have offered valuable opinions on slavery or the lives of slaves.

Based upon the above statement, a guy who strip mines is the only likely source of valid opinions on strip mining. No one can intelligently opine about the use of amalgam in Southeast Asia gold mining that has never gold mined? I can make a pretty damn good argument for not using mercury in gold mining, but have never mined for a living.

Have you ever had an opinion about a movie or a law? Did you ever make one? And you have the temerity to call my position absurd.
