Israel Defends Settlement Plan in Face of Bush
>>..."Bush and Sharon will not clash over settlements. If they can't reach an understanding on it, they will find a detour around it or ignore it altogether," one source said.

While U.S. officials said they had been pushing Israel to curb settlement growth, Israeli officials think Bush's comments were aimed more at assuaging his European allies, who have sharply criticized the Maale Adumim plan, and shoring up Abbas.<<

Didn't Bush make those "demands" to his “Man of peace” many times before? And then issued a statement to recognize the expanded settlements because “it’s not realistic” to ask Israel to withdraw?

Well, any other choice Bush has, except to appease the “Man of peace” and to sacrifice the US' relationships with the Arab world, the Europeans and the UN?
