I agree. It will be a long, long time before hydrogen based propulsion will be economical....maybe never.

Hybrid propulsion schemes make far more sense. But even they aren't yet economical. You hear all the proponents for hybrid cars as if they have gone through some great religious conversion. They don't realize though, you pay a premium to buy a hybrid car and it will be 5-6 years before you break even. By that time, the car will be nearly worthless and they'll be looking at their first $1000 charge for a new set of batteries.

You just can't beat the economical benefits of pumping crude out of the ground.
