GVTucker, re "After all, since crude is one of the major components, to a large extent you're adjusting the price of crude to compensate for increases in the price of crude." If crude were the only component, the inflation-adusted price would be constant. The fact that it's not constant suggests to me the adjustment is meaningful. Besides, the price inflator/deflator used may have excluded this major component. Ron
