JF and Tim, just read a review of the Accord Hybrid on Consumer Reports. Fuel economy only rose from 23 MPG to 25 MPG, since the car is only a "mild hybrid" in that the electric motor can only assist but cannot drive the car by itself. Meanwhile, the entire spare tire bay is replaced with the batteries and a can of "fix-a-flat."

Bottom line is that a lot was added to the Accord just to make it a mild hybrid. Not a bad start, but far from a simple "drop-in" technology that can be applied to most cars out there.
