He had a different view on going to war in iraq than some of us.
Two thousand years, in terms of eternity, is not that long a period of time, however, for us two thousand years is a long time.
My point is, however, after two thousand years, the teaching of Jesus Christ is still with us. It has not been dismissed. By seeing what is happening at the Vatican today, it does not look like the teachings of Jesus Christ is going away any time soon.
Politicians, conquerors, and philosophers have come and gone in that period of time since Jesus, but the others could not stand up to the test of time.
The Pope, John Paul II, for me, embodied the culmination (or continuation) of the teachings of Jesus Christ.
I find it very difficult to dismiss the Pope's views on life and death.
IMO the Pope is not a "pacifist", he advocates the teachings of Jesus Christ (love thy neighor, optimism, charity, etc....)
There is nothing there about killing people.
I think the Pope has been very clear about this.
You can disagree with him, but I don't think it is a good idea to misrepresent him. |
