Here's a thought for the Canadians on this forum. If you have read the news about the Gomery inquiry, it seems apparent that the Canadian dollar may be in trouble before long. It's just a matter of time before the Economist or other papers have Gomery on the front page for the world to hear, and no doubt what is already sensational will be even more sensationalized for those clueless on Canadian politics and for American conservatives thirsting for dirt. The message for the world will be that the already weak Liberal minority government will be confronted with rejuvinated Quebec separatism calls and equally angry calls from Western Canada. There may be an election and if not there will at least be acrimony and difficulty governing. If you don't bet directly against the Cdn dollar by moving money between currency accounts or other means, remember that gold and cross-listed gold stocks denominated in Canadian dollars will rise in proportion to any fall in the Cdn dollar -- with gold stocks looking up today now may be time to buy.
