Hi Sam,

Back to my main question: are CF, SD, Memory Stick mainly just different form factors. If so, doesn't this needless fragmentation of the industry impose severe costs on consumers and producers alike?

CF,SD,MS,XD,MMC, etc. and their many variants are all different form factors and fragmentation works to the advantage of Sandisk for sure. They are the only vendor that provides pretty much all the form factors out there and are also an oem supplier to most companies like Canon, Nikon, Fuji, Olympus, Sony, etc. The fragmentation has been a result of inability of the these above mentioned companies to come to an agreement with a single standard and trying to differentiate their own products using the form factor of their choice. Sandisk has done a great job to capitalize on this fragmentation.
