As for the substance of a reply to that anonymous yada yada yada post, it's not worth the time. I repeated, and repeat, the comment I offer here far too many times for everyone's sanity. Universities are very, very disparate places. They are not monoliths, certainly not as described here.

One can, of course, find incidents such as reported here. In my experiences I've seen them caused by and suffered by liberals and conservatives, religious and non religious, politically active and inactive, you name the distinctions that appeal to you.

And we know they occur in all sorts of places of work, in families, etc.

My guess is that if we had reasonable data, they would be less likely to occur in good universities than elsewhere. But it's definitely not in the interests of "anonymous" posters to make that distinction or offer that degree of data.

Does that help you feel superior?
