They do need excuses... if people think prices are being raised unreasonably for the sake of the corporations, they may protest. They might need excuses to prevent the government from interfering in the market for political reasons, yes that is true. Regardless, this is why regulation is necessary. You don't make any argument, even to the extent of detailing what "this" means in the context of your statement. The only relevant possibility seems to be that gasoline prices have gone up. Is your whole argument actually just "gasoline prices have gone up, therefore regulation is necessary"??? Tim
