Darleen > we are neither socialistic nor purely capitalistic
With respect, I disagree. Your government is intensely capitalistic, even bordering on fascist. The Republicans are no longer "conservative" but favor militarism, government expansion and the rule of religion over the Constitution. The Democrats are an embarrassment. All that interests them is political correctness and sucking up to the Republicans. The last thing that concerns them is We the People.
> A gov must offer something to its people or it is operating as a dictatorship
The US government is a de facto dictatorship, whether you believe it or you don't.
> With each election we have there are certain benefits that appeal to the public and one side or the other legislates new laws that appeal to the people
The elections are rigged and the people are, today, more concerned about religion than about their secular "rights" and fighting for them. The recent elections were, most definitely, not decided on the "issues" but on non-issues like abortion, clones, gay-marriage, national security, whether Kerry was a war hero etc.
> DNA in all life forms has a self survival gene so I can blame that faulty gene
Yes, I do understand and, in fact, appreciate the struggle for survival -- but, in the US, what we see is the survival of the fattest -- the nation that uses more resources and consumes more energy than anyone else on this planet -- and, moreover, feels perfectly entitled to do so -- even if it means making wars on others and stealing what they have. And then, as if that wasn't enough, distributes the largesse to only the wealthy elites. |
