The article was dishonest. It criticized GM while complimenting Toyota on employee benefits, without even having their facts straight on employee benefits. It was a dishonest article.

I am unclear why you think that's dishonest. Toyota guarantees its employees full employment through both good and bad times. That means when American and European car companies are laying off workers, Toyota continues to pay an employee his/her full salary even if he/she sits on a chair all day on the factory floor. That's an incredible cost to bear. GM does layoffs during the slow times in order to save money. Plus, I am sure Toyota's health benefits are the equal of GM's.

But if you still doubt what I am saying, look at a Consumer's Report and see the ratings for Toyotas vs GM cars.........Toyota is one of the leaders of the pack........GM is lucky if one of its cars is in the top ten in terms of reliability and quality. And then check on the Toyotas and GM cars on the freeways. Toyota's designs are much better.

And then there is the Toyota assembly line.......its one of the best in the world. Detroit has tried to ape the Japanese in terms of assembly and assembly costs but just can't seem to pull it off. Only in pickups does Detroit lead the Japanese.
