I believe you asked me a question that was essentially what I would do if confronted by hoodlums. So at that point my personal circumstances became relevant in the way I answered the question.
Do you have any idea how ridiculous I think it is to argue that since hoodlums have guns, everyone should? I think we need to take all guns away from almost everyone. I would go door to door, after offering amnesty programs and big payments to turn them in. Then I would make the penalties for using a gun in a crime even worse than they are. I would make possession of a gun a felony. I would invest in better weapons and armor for police. I would invest in more police, and community policing, so that there wouldn't be any really dangerous areas with armed hoodlums. There, now, you could go anywhere and not need to be armed to the teeth! A different solution, not really an easy one, but certainly more sensical than everyone being armed. I think that is just totally insane.
I do understand that there are several varieties of guns. Automatic, semi-automatic, the kind that will pierce police vests, whatever! I am clear that they all kill people needlessly.
If someone is determined to kill you, meaning you specifically, they will simply wait until they have an opportunity to surprise you. |
