When has Carter even been beaten or hated by the world? You mean Nixon, don't you? Carter is the proudest and most successful ex-president of anyone and a great role model. He also did a lot to unite this country while he was in power. He symbolized "the new south" while Bushies have taken up the old south attitude of racial and cultural division (and hypocrisy).

Yes, Carter was defeated by the energy and hostage disaster in the Middle East during his term, but look at the history and you could see he inherited that unfolding situation from Nixon, and the high interest rates were mainly due to the huge war debt left over from Vietnam.

What would you have had Carter do differently?
